Future Readiness
If you don’t have a destination, how do you know when you’re there? Forney ISD is committed to guiding our students on a path that cultivates their unique gifts and interest to ensure all students graduate with a focus, a plan.
Forney Independent School District offers individualized focused pathways that are designed with three types of graduates in mind: College-Bound, Learn & Earn and Career-Ready. Each pathway incorporates a wide range of components, including the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills, articulated college credit, academic dual credit, industry certifications, advanced technical credit, technical dual credit, community partnerships, and career experiences.
Through collaboration with students, teachers, parents and the community we have developed a K-12 plan that prepares our students to be future ready. College and career awareness, academic achievement, learning & innovative skills, life & career characteristics, and experiences are an integral part of Forney ISD’s Future Ready initiative. It takes more than just a focus to ensure our students graduate ready for the world, possessing the characteristics and knowledge base they need to be successful and to compete in today’s global workforce.
Through collaboration with all stakeholders we aim to help students:
- learn about their strengths and interest and how to apply them for success
- take ownership in their learning
- understand how advanced and challenging classes help prepare them for college, earn scholarships and qualify for better jobs
- take advantage of opportunities to explore career interest in high school
- become involved in student organizations to build leadership skills
- earn college credit, industry certifications and licenses
- find scholarships and financial aid
