FORNEY ISD SCHOOLS OPEN TOMORROW: Anticipate traffic delays
Forney ISD is prepared to open campuses for the 2022-23 school year tomorrow, Thursday, Aug. 11. As with every school year, the district encourages the community to anticipate travel delays. After the first few weeks, routines are established, carpools are arranged, bus students are registered, and the traffic flow improves.
Forney’s growing population and increase in student enrollment combined with construction sites and train schedules, affect traffic. Preparing for the delay in advance can lessen commuter frustration.
As school begins, it’s important to remember safety protocols to keep students and drivers safe. School zones are marked around the perimeters of campuses for drivers to slow down and utilize hands-free cell phone options. Crosswalks are marked for students crossing the street; however, drivers should be constantly aware of children within eyesight.
Buses may make multiple stops for students to get on or off the bus. When buses are stopped and red lights are blinking, traffic may not pass the bus until the red lights are turned-off.
Safety will continue to be the priority as students are welcomed for the new school year.
