North Forney Indoor Percussion Ensemble Earns Highest Rating at WGI Championships
The North Forney Indoor Percussion Ensemble has had an incredible season that culminated in the group’s second appearance at the Winter Guard International (WGI) World Championships in Dayton, Ohio, on Thursday, April 21 and Friday, April 22. Entering the preliminary competition at the WGI World Championship as the 2022 North Texas Colorguard Association (NTCA) Percussion Scholastic Concert World Class Champions with a score of 92.75, North Forney was in place to defend its 2019 silver place finish.
After competing against groups from across the nation in the preliminary rounds, North Forney was ranked second with a score of 94.95. The group returned to the competition the following day and put on an energetic and emotional performance. The North Forney Indoor Percussion Ensemble achieved their goal and were awarded their top performance score of 95.8 by the judges, earning the group a second place finish in the WGI World Championships. This is the highest score North Forney has ever received in the six years of competing.
The North Forney Percussion Studio would like to invite the Forney community to their final performance of the year on Saturday, April 30 at 4 p.m. in the North Forney High School Performing Arts Center, where they will perform their WGI World Championship show as well as other selections. Admission is free.
