Good morning Forney Family! Welcome back to school!

Today, the Forney ISD IT Department is highlighting some new features that have come to chromeOS over the last year. Some of these were obvious and impactful, but others may be hidden gems that can help you during your school day:

New Launcher
The launcher (aka start menu or app tray) and all system menus have been updated to allow for light and dark themes, the app launcher itself is now more streamlined to take up less screen space and allow for easier organization of your apps, and a new wallpaper tool has been added for more personal customization of your desktop. Google Calendar is also accessible with just a single click from the system tray.

Virtual Desktops
If you are a power user, chromeOS now supports virtual desktops!

Screen Capture
Not only has it been completely rebuilt from the ground up to be more intuitive and flexible, a new feature has been added to include both your webcam and microphone in the capture. So you can record your own video notations as you are capturing the screen.

New Camera tools
The camera app has been updated to create better quality videos, GIFs, and can be used as a document scanner!

Accessibility Features
There is a new docked magnifying tool for easier magnification without sacrificing all of your screen space. Dictation commands for voice-to-text have been updated, allowing you to edit your dictations as you take them.

If you’re interested in learning more about these new features, or want to see all of the new features that have been added to chromeOS recently, you can find more information in the “Explore” app installed on every chromeOS device!
